Come As You Are

CAYA is a unique monthly service geared toward young adults, ages 21 – 40, that focuses on daily issues, concerns, struggles with various temptations and the need to become consistent in serving the Lord. It is a place where the saved and unsaved can come together and get it together. Pastor Howard-John Wesley ministers in a creative and transparent way that reaches our lives directly. Service is enhanced by a live band and praise team as well as a dynamic CAYA drama ministry. Here, food for the spirit is served with a side order of Bible and food for the body is served at the social session starting promptly at 6:30 PM. Additionally, CAYA encompasses spiritual events including community outreach, occasional brunch, and our annual rooftop party.

Our Pastor

Reverend Dr. Howard-John Wesley represents the fourth generation of Baptist preachers in his family. This native of Chicago is the son of the late Rev. Dr. Alvin J. Wesley and Dr. Helene J. Wesley. Rev. Wesley acknowledged and accepted his calling into the Gospel ministry at the age of sixteen and was licensed to preach in 1989. He was ordained in 1997 at his father’s church, Hermon Baptist Church, in Chicago, Illinois by the Greater New Era Baptist District Association of the Baptist General State Convention of Illinois. He has also served on the staff of the Orange Grove Baptist Church of Durham, NC and the Concord Baptist Church of Boston, MA. Rev. Wesley was installed as the 8th pastor of Alfred Street Baptist Church September 28, 2008.
